Anchor Profile Guide: Typical Values for Different Substrates
Anchor profile values and measurement guide for steel, aluminum, & critical substrate prep jobs.
For mild steel, aim for an anchor profile between 50–120 microns measured by replica tape. Aluminum and sensitive alloys need a finer profile, often 30–60 microns. Regularly verify with digital gauges or tape at several locations, averaging the results. Consult coating manufacturer recommendations for each job and log findings as part of your inspection records for all critical infrastructure projects.
